“The body is our greatest ally in the healing process, as it holds the wisdom and resources necessary for healing.”
- Peter Levine
How it Works
-
Step 1. Initial Evaluation
The first session is about getting to know you, any relevant medical history, and your goals. I’ll ask you questions and do a thorough assessment to determine the best approach for you. We'll create a customized plan to address your needs and provide initial hands on treatment to get you started towards feeling better.
-
Step 2. Integrative Manual Therapy
In addition to traditional physical therapy techniques to address muscle tension and joint stiffness, we will also integrate alternative manual therapies, including visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy as needed. These therapies are particularly helpful at calming the nervous system, reducing the body’s protective state, and promoting internal harmony to the system, which sets the stage necessary for healing.
-
Step 3. Mind-Body Healing
You will come to understand the root causes of your pain, including the physical components as well as those that lie in the nervous system, mind, and emotional body. You’ll learn mindfulness and somatic exercises to bring these components to conscious awareness and decrease their charge.
-
Step 4. Feel Better
Utilizing this mind-body approach will help you to address more pieces of the puzzle to what you are going through, for more lasting, empowered, and embodied healing.
“Especially when dealing with complex pain conditions, an integrative approach is necessary because you cannot separate the condition from the whole person. I see the most benefit when we blend approaches and take into consideration the person’s mind, body, and spirit.”
-Dr. Marissa Dannaway
